Why we have a state plan:
The Council is responsible by law to plan for the needs of people with developmental disabilities in the state. [More]
The Vision of the Plan:
Children and adults with developmental disabilities will lead fulfilling lives. [More]
How the Plan was developed:
During the winter of 2005 and spring of 2006 the public commented on the needs of people with developmental disabilities. [More]
Plan Goals:
The 2007-2011 State Plan has three goals and a public education plan. [More]
- Self-Determination:
People with DD receiving long-term care services through a managed care system will use Self Determination to be more included in the community. - Transition:
Young adults with significant disabilities will make successful transitions to jobs and activities of their choice in the community. - Advocacy and Organizing:
People with disabilities and family members will be effective advocates for systems change through participation in the DAWN advocacy network. - Public Education:
Policy makers and the general public will support inclusion and self determination for people with disabilities.
